Blog 2 THE BEST HOLIDAY/ CONCERT EVER

The Best Concert Ever

The best concert I ever been was Bjork in 2011 at the Lollapalooza festival. The two-day event took place in O'higgins' Park.

Bjork, an Icelandic singer, was born November 21st 1962. She is not only a singer but also a composer, multi-instrumentalist, actress, writer, DJ and producer. She is known for making experimental and avant-garde music.

She played and closed on the first day's event. It was crowded and the fans were out of control which made difficult to get close to the stage. I never thought it would be like that. Therefore, I tried to make the most of the recital time.

I was shocked when I saw her because she is an artist that I’ve followed since 1995. I loved the outfit she was wearing. Also, the song called “Declare Independence” which is a social claim in a techno-rock style. In this song, the choir of about 20 women, started a wild dance and made a headbanger. It was a very powerful performance.

However, I missed her musicians at the concert. It was all packed through a DJ who played the tracks. Then I understood that the Lollapalooza festival format is like a big fair of music with short concerts to the consumer’s taste. As a result, I discovered Joan Jet, an old rocker with great musicians and excellent sound. It was a great surprise.

As a piece of advice, try to be fit because you have to walk a lot if you want to see most of the artists. Be careful, considering that there are always lots of people in the show of the artists that you like the most. So, they push and squeeze you ending up packed in like sardines just to see them closer.
